Another great view of Menari on the long way down from Brigade Hill. You can see the airfield in the foreground. Brigade Hill elevation is 1415 meters, the Vabuiagi River at the bottom of the decline is 705 meters.

A couple of pictures of the bridge over the Vabuiagi River.

The plaque for Damien Parer at the river near where he was killed back in 1944.. Damien was Australia's first Academy Award winner.

I was happy to sit down and relax as Andrew ran about.

We thought we were going to have the guest house (and mattresses) to ourselves for the night. We had not shared a guest house for the previous six days. Wasn't to be !  A group of police, ambulance and firefighters came in on a tour with Aidan Grimes. We listened in on some of his talks to the group. He runs an excellent tour for military history buffs.

A pic of Aidan in Menari

Andrew with the other touch rugby players after a two hour game in the hot afternoon sun. Time for a good rest !

Dinner in Menari was sweet potatoe, chocko and fried stone fish. One of the local boys had speared the fish in the Vaguiagi river.
