Day 3 - Alola to Templetons Crossing

Tossed and turned most of the night in the tent. As Andrew said, hard to tell if you awake or asleep. Part of the issue was how hard and loud the rain belted down on then tent. I also had some muscle cramps in the legs overnight that kept me awake.  Anyway, up and ready to roll at about 6.30 after a muesli bar and cup a soup.

Morning light on Alola huts.

The Eora creek is quite a fast running with a large span. The creek was a also quite high based on the high rainfall overnight.

Quite a new guesthouse hut at Templetons Crossing. Made with nails and corrugated iron, rather than the normal pandanus etc leaves.

As the floor of the hut was quite dusty and dirty, we ended up putting up the tent inside the hut.

Being a 9 day walk on Kokoda, we generally got into our camp site at around 1pm each day. As there are only three in our group, we move pretty quickly during the day...ie quick rests and lunches and no need to wait for stragglers in the group. Here is Andrew chilling.

Old ammunition lying about in the campsite

We cooked dinner each night on the fire. We carried two aluminium billies (from a trangia kerosene cooker) and used these each night for cooking. The camp sites each charge $K20 per night per person for camping and $K5 for a fire. We enjoyed a delicious freeze dinner of curried beef !!!
